The TOPS River Rat is a compact and exceptionally versatile fixed-blade knife designed by Julius Diez in collaboration with TOPS Knives, which addresses a common shortcoming of small knives by incorporating the concept of a full-fledged grip within a minimal footprint. The blade, featuring a modified sheepsfoot profile, is crafted from high-quality American 154CM stainless steel and finished with a durable, textured “Rough Terrain” coating that provides superior corrosion protection and reliably withstands constant exposure to moisture in demanding aquatic environments.
The blade’s unique geometry combines a sturdy tip with sufficient cutting edge for precise working cuts, cleaning fish on the shore, or skinning small game. The knife’s main advantage is its ingeniously designed ergonomics: despite its very compact overall length of less than 17 cm, the knife features a full-size black G10 handle that provides a secure and firm grip, preventing hand fatigue even during intensive use. In late 1998, the TOPS Knives brand was founded with the goal of creating some of the highest quality knives on the market.
