Detailed information

Product detailed description

Morakniv Mora 2000 (S) Black Edition represents a modernized version of the well-known Mora 2000 outdoor knife, this time with an emphasis on durability, universal use, and practical features for staying in nature. The main change is the Swedish 14C28N stainless steel, supplemented by a black DLC surface finish and a spine ground to 90° for use with a ferrocerium rod. The knife fits perfectly into bushcraft, camping, hiking, or light outdoor work gear.

The 14C28N steel blade offers a very good balance between corrosion resistance, toughness, and long-lasting edge retention. This Swedish stainless steel is among the popular materials for outdoor knives because it handles wet environments while allowing for relatively easy sharpening. A hardness of around 58 HRC represents a practical compromise for a universal knife intended to handle cutting, slicing, and minor woodworking without a brittle edge.

A striking element of the Black Edition remains the matte DLC blade surface finish. Diamond-Like Carbon creates a hard protective layer that increases surface resistance to wear and simultaneously reduces reflections. The black blade, combined with the black handle and sheath, creates a compact look that appears more pronounced than the classic Mora 2000 version. DLC serves not only as a design element but also as additional surface protection against common wear and tear.

The spine of the blade has received a sharp edge of approximately 90°, which allows for use with a ferrocerium rod. This allows sparks to be created during work without the need for a separate striker. The sharp spine also finds use in various bushcraft tasks, such as preparing wood shavings for starting a fire. The blade also serves well when sharpening tent pegs, preparing wood for small tasks, or carving simple objects.

The ergonomically shaped polymer handle supports a secure grip even in wet conditions. The shape is based on the proven Mora 2000 concept, which emphasizes blade control during precision work. The handle works well for slicing food, cutting cordage, and light wood processing, so the knife does not have to remain solely part of bushcraft gear.

The black polymer sheath completes the overall practical design. The symmetrical construction allows for comfortable carrying for both right-handed and left-handed users, and the belt attachment facilitates easy access to the knife while working in the field. The Mora 2000 (S) Black Edition thus combines the simple and proven construction of Mora with modern 14C28N steel, a DLC coating, and a ferrocerium rod function. Thanks to this, it offers universal utility from food preparation and camping to light bushcraft and everyday outdoor work.

Traditional Swedish Mora knives have earned a strong reputation as dependable tools over many years. Their strength lies in straightforward design, proven materials and real-world usability, rather than visual extravagance. Blades are commonly made from Scandinavian steel, treated to balance edge retention with easy maintenance. The characteristic grind supports controlled cutting during woodworking, food preparation or general outdoor tasks. Handles feel secure in the hand, even in cold or wet conditions, reflecting their northern heritage.

Knife making in the Mora region reaches far back in history, and this long-standing craftsmanship still influences production today. Generations of experience combine with modern manufacturing techniques, resulting in tools that perform consistently in daily use. Mora knives often serve as an entry point for beginners, yet continue to satisfy experienced users who value reliability.

Well-known model lines gained popularity through versatility, durability and honest performance. Mora demonstrates that a simple, well-made knife can deliver outstanding value without unnecessary complexity. This practical philosophy explains why the brand remains trusted worldwide.
