Mostly thanks to Hollywood and many Roman-themed films, the Roman gladius has become perhaps the most famous piece of ancient weaponry.
It's simple and long double-edged blade, which has a traditional long point, made it an ideal stabbing or piercing weapon that could defeat the armour of the time.
The Cold Steel® interpretation is not a reproduction of a specific ancient Gladius sword, but a collection of the main features of this venerable sword. For example, the blade has a traditional shape, but unlike the ancient version, it is made of high carbon spring-hardened steel, fully sharpened on both edges, and has a fine mirror-like sheen.
The tip is impressively long, but strong enough to resist bending or breaking.
The Gladius Roman sword features a rosewood handle, carved and decorated in a classical style.
The wooden scabbard is covered in black leather and accented with a throat, scabbard and supporting rings of solid brass.
