From the creative mind of Frenchie Jin, CAS proudly presents the Baika Tanto from the Dragon King Forge. This unique piece features a san mai stainless steel blade and a fully wrapped genuine stingray leather handle. San mai is an ancient laminating technique developed by Japanese master blacksmiths, whereby steels of different properties can be combined to create a superior blade. In this style of san mai, a hard core of steel is forged between two pieces of softer steel. The result is a stainless steel blade with exceptional edge hold that retains the toughness of the softer steel.
The beautiful and functional plum blossom tanto is light in the hand and held firmly by knots of ray skin. Finely detailed gold-plated menus and eagle-shaped accents demonstrate Frenchie's attention to detail in all Dragon King designs. The gold saya and brown and gold sageo match beautifully together, making the Baika Tanto a great addition to the Tatsumaki katana.
