Detailed information

Product detailed description

The classic Italian stiletto is one of the world's most iconic automatic knives, made famous through films and the rich knife-making heritage of Southern Europe. For generations, it has been regarded by collectors and enthusiasts as the classic switchblade or automatic knife. Its elegant profile, unmistakable push-button mechanism, and traditional craftsmanship have secured its place among the most recognizable knife designs ever produced.

The blade is deployed by pressing the button positioned in the center of the handle, while an integrated safety lock helps prevent accidental opening during carry. The release mechanism is manufactured from stainless steel or nickel silver, ensuring reliable operation and long-lasting durability. The crisp automatic action remains one of the defining characteristics of traditional Italian stilettos.

The bayonet-style blade is crafted from W.1.4034 (AISI 420) stainless steel, hardened to approximately 56 HRC. This proven blade steel offers excellent corrosion resistance, easy maintenance, and dependable edge performance for everyday use. The distinctive bayonet profile emphasizes the knife's classic Italian appearance while providing precise cutting capability.

The handle is fitted with white polymer scales, offering excellent durability, dimensional stability, and resistance to moisture and everyday wear. The clean white finish highlights the traditional stiletto design while providing a modern, easy-to-maintain alternative to natural handle materials. Brass liners and pins follow classic Italian construction methods, while the internal spring is manufactured from stainless steel for reliable long-term performance.

Every Frank Beltrame knife is individually assembled and finished entirely by hand in Maniago, Italy, preserving the authentic craftsmanship that has made Italian stilettos highly respected among collectors worldwide.

Frank Beltrame has been producing traditional Italian Stiletto knives for more than forty years, earning strong recognition among demanding customers worldwide. Crafted in Maniago, these knives combine manual skill with precise spring-driven mechanics. Decades of continuous production have refined the opening action into a reliable and unmistakable signature. This balance of tradition and function defines the Italian stiletto knife.

The Maniago Smith manufacturing heritage has been passed down through generations, preserving attention to detail and mechanical accuracy. Consistent spring tension and clean deployment remain key indicators of quality. At the same time, the company engages in the Made in Maniago certification project and ongoing material research, aligning tradition with modern European standards.

The classic product line adheres strictly to traditional craftsmanship and premium materials such as buffalo horn, stag horn, exotic woods, mammoth ivory, ebony, and durable synthetic options. Each handle material delivers a unique texture and visual depth, making every knife distinctive. The blade, made from stainless steel W.1.4034 hardened to HRC 56, offers a balanced mix of resilience and edge stability, while brass inlays OT63 and OT67 reinforce the timeless appearance.

The Italian stiletto knife stands as an icon in history and popular culture. Originating in medieval Italy, its slim, pointed blade with a diamond profile symbolizes elegance and penetration. Today, collectors value the stiletto primarily for its historical significance and refined Italian craftsmanship rather than its former combative role.
