Historically, the longsword featured a distinctive cross-shaped hilt and a long, double-edged blade that was equally well suited against lightly and heavily armored enemies. Its extra-long blade had sufficient reach and leverage for powerful stabbing, slashing, and slashing blows, while its long crossguard and heavy pommel were useful for hooking, striking, and smashing.
