As an X-treme Survivalist and Adventurer in real life and on TV, EJ Snyder is also a highly decorated Army veteran who served in the 1991 Gulf War and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
EJ knows what it takes to survive in many X-treme situations from the wilderness to combat, and he has tried and tested it every time, so he wanted to design a modern knife that would honor the spirit of the pioneers of the past but meet the demands of the ever-evolving modern world, and a tactical survival tool that would be as tough, durable and reliable as he is; one that every warrior, survivalist and outdoorsman couldn't do without. The SXB is the X-treme tool for every X-treme job!

EJ began his search for such a knife on the plains of the Serengeti in Tanzania, Africa, while completing the 21-day X-treme Survival challenge on Naked and Afraid. The knife that EJ had brought with him as his only piece of equipment failed in the field and became inoperable, so he found it potentially disastrous to be in the field and unable to rely on his knife. Upon returning to the US, EJ tested many knives, sought the advice of many top custom knifemakers he personally knew, and spent countless hours researching all aspects of the art of knife making. Many influences, needs, and rigorous testing went into the thought process and design of the SXB knife, and his two-year journey culminated in the creation of his vision by TOPS Knives.
