This time the gentlemen from Tops came up with the idea of making a kiridashi style knife, close to the traditional Japanese style, which they could use specifically to cut leather for projects and other things around the house. In the end, it worked. Around the same time, Craig, the Executive Director of Manufacturing at Tops, also attended several Martial Blades Concepts classes with a local instructor (Adam Boyce of Spartan Mode). So of course he realized that it would also be a solid self-defense tool if needed. At this point, the design was modified to include a finger ring.
With such a narrow tip and straight blade, many useful cuts are easily made. Stabbing will provide great penetration, EDC tasks that involve thrusting cuts will be precise. Even fine, detailed cuts for woodworking will be a breeze. The handle has a perfect radius that makes the knife comfortable to hold in both the front and back grip. The beta strap that comes with the kydex sheath can be easily removed and repositioned so the knife can be carried horizontally, vertically, and even attached to MOLLE gear or a backpack. So whatever reason you choose to carry the knife, the Poker is sure to suit you.
