TOPS is known for producing interesting and wild designs. But sometimes even the simplest designs fill a need.
It can be difficult to design a good knife, but it doesn't always have to be that way, when Leo set out to design the Street Spike he was looking for a no-nonsense, basic tool that flawlessly combined concealability, strength and utility while keeping the price of the knife as low as possible.
He started with 1/4" 1095 steel, lightened it by skeletonizing the handle and radiusing the edges to make the knife comfortable without the handle, getting what many people in the US currently use as an EDC. It's small enough to fit in a pocket or be worn as a neck knife.
The Beta Loop straps also allow for many carry positions.

In late 1998, the TOPS Knives brand was founded with the goal of creating some of the highest quality knives on the market. These knives are tools that are designed and built using the extensive knowledge and real life experience of many users in the military, armed forces, outdoor professions and martial arts. Specifically, designers with backgrounds ranging from Navy Seals to Airborne Rangers, from martial arts instructors to survival experts, and from SWAT team members to Native weapons experts were collaborated with. TOPS has a designer from almost every background that uses hard-core knives.
All TOPS knives are handcrafted in a sweatshop in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, USA.
