The designer who invented it, Jerry Van Cook is a well-known name in the knife world, a writer and training expert with over 35 years of martial arts training, including a 7th degree black belt in Bei-Koku Aibujutsu.
This knife design is very well thought out and executed by a man who has spent many years in combat missions around the world.
Jerry is an acclaimed author, "Undercover" is one of about 40 books he has written, his experience has allowed him to become an excellent self-defense instructor, and he is also the author of a specific booklet called "Sweet Sixteen", which is 16 easy ways to apply effective knife defense techniques at close range.

In late 1998, the TOPS Knives brand was founded with the goal of creating some of the highest quality knives on the market.
