When the Outback™ came out, it was quite possibly the hardest hitting Bowie knife you could buy without going to a custom knifemaker. We were quite pleased that we could fit so much chopping power into a regular-sized knife, but of course it was only a matter of time before someone outdid it. This got us thinking... if it could be done without being totally impractical, why weren't we already doing it?
Well, after several months of design work and prototyping, we believe we have succeeded. The Red Rock Raptor™ knife design borrowed elements from the legendary Kukri knife to give it the speed and power needed to chop more or less anything that might need to be chopped. The angle and width of the tip provides a natural stabbing point, while the smooth transition of the convex and concave blades gives you the durability of an axe and the sharpness and maneuverability of a knife-both right where you need them without somehow invalidating each other.
And finally, you know how some otherwise great bows, kukris, and machetes kind of make you want to hold back a little to keep your hand from slipping? Yeah, we hate that too. That's why the Red Rock Raptor™ has an ergonomically designed 100% leather handle and generous hand guards on both ends. You can pound with the pommel, stab with the tip, strike with the base of the blade, chop with the convex blade, and slash with the back of the bone crusher as hard and fast as you're physically capable of. Wide, smoothly rounded hand guards protect your fingers from impact and ensure the knife stays glued to your hand no matter what you do. Don't let the aggressive looks fool you; this knife was engineered to perform as great as it looks. We believe that in successful design, form and function should not compete, but complement each other.
