Detailed information

Product detailed description

The Böker M4 Sherman Damast Rose Gold is an exclusive model that represents a unique fusion of high-end knife craftsmanship and historical legacy. This exceptional knife pays tribute to the legendary M4 Sherman tank, one of the most significant armored vehicles of World War II, which played a crucial role in shaping modern warfare.

Developed in cooperation with the Americans in Wartime Museum in Virginia, this knife stands as a truly distinctive collector’s piece. The blade is crafted from Damascus steel forged using material sourced from restored M4 Sherman tanks. The 80-layer Damascus was hand-forged by renowned bladesmith Chad Nichols in the Customized Ladder pattern, visually reminiscent of tank tracks and symbolically referencing the machine’s historical significance. Each blade carries not only performance qualities but also a direct connection to history.

The Rose Gold finish gives the knife an exceptionally elegant appearance, applied to the blade, pocket clip, and hardware. The knife can be easily opened one-handed via a flipper or thumb stud, while a robust frame lock ensures secure blade lock-up. An integrated Hinderer Lock-Stop protects the locking mechanism from overtravel and long-term wear. This combination enhances both safety and mechanical longevity.

The design draws clear inspiration from the M4 Sherman tank. The pivot screw reflects the shape of the tank’s drive wheel, while the handle combines titanium and carbon fiber, delivering both strength and reduced weight. A lanyard hole and deep-carry pocket clip provide practical everyday usability despite its collector status. The knife successfully blends historical symbolism with modern functionality.

Each piece is handcrafted at the Böker Manufaktur in Solingen, Germany. This limited edition consists of only 500 pieces worldwide, each individually serialized and supplied with a certificate of authenticity. The package also includes an elegant floating display stand, emphasizing the uniqueness of this collector’s model.

The roots of Böker go back to the 17th century, when the family forge operated in Remscheid and focused on steel processing and edge tools. Over time, practical experience shaped a technical mindset that balanced durability, cutting performance, and reliability. The expansion into sabres and rapiers around 1829–1830 marked a decisive technological step, demanding precise heat treatment and consistent blade geometry. With more than a hundred skilled craftsmen employed, the company gained the capacity to refine production without losing its artisanal foundation.

During the second half of the 19th century, parts of the family moved to North America, establishing facilities in the USA and Canada. This international presence allowed experimentation with new designs and materials. Today, major production remains in Solingen, supported by manufacturing in the USA and Argentina, while modern CNC machining ensures tight tolerances and repeatable results. Böker develops knives in-house and in collaboration with well-known makers, delivering tools that combine engineering precision with practical usability, including the widely distributed MAGNUM line aimed at robust everyday performance.
