Benchmade is one of America's leading manufacturers of modern high-tech knives. It was founded in 1978, when it produced its first and most famous model, the Bali-song. Since then, the brand has maintained the direction of progress and new technologies applied in the field of cutlery products. Benchmade Knife Company is an American knife manufacturer operated by Roberta and Les de Asis in Oregon City, Oregon, the capital of all leading knife manufacturers in North America. It is this state and its metropolis that is now home to many knife manufacturers, as it is one of the few states in the Union where there are no restrictions on the manufacture or carrying of knives.
Benchmade was founded in 1978. Just one year after its inception, it became famous for the legendary Bali-Song knife by developer Jody Samson, which was awarded the prestigious Blade Magazine's Knife of the Year for 1979.
