In the continuation of the new Generals series, Hanwei artisans pay tribute to the One-Eyed Dragon of Oshu, Date Masamune. Known for his bold Crescent Moon kabuto (samurai helmet) and black and gold armor, his legacy is one of conquest through blood and steel, contrasted by his reputation as a forward-thinking, sophisticated, diplomatic and accommodating man. Date Masamune's katana depicts his classic Hanwei tsuba with a war fan, while the side of the blade depicts soldiers with firearms. The kashira is embossed with a black one-eyed dragon, contrasted by a kashira with a golden relief of a falcon. The tsuka is wrapped in brown suede around a white stingray skin that feels incredibly good in the hand. Date's meticulously detailed golden menuki war and kabuto on one side and his chest plate and shoulder armor on the other put this sword over the top. The 65Mn forged steel blade has a distinctive and deep hamon and is well balanced for slashing. The black textured saya resists smudges or fingerprints and contrasts with the brown cotton sageo and buffalo horn kurikat and kojiri.
