Product detailed description
Böker Magnum Kiai – a training sword in the style of a traditional katana
The Böker Magnum Kiai is a modern take on the classic bokken, a wooden training sword used in Japanese martial arts such as Iaido, Aikido, Kenjutsu, and Kendo. It is ideal for safe training without the risk of injury that would be present when using sharp blades.
Unlike traditional wooden weapons, the Magnum Kiai combines durability and authentic appearance thanks to its modern material composition of polypropylene and fiberglass. This combination ensures high strength, flexibility, and long life, so the sword can withstand even intense training.
Its dimensions correspond to those of a real katana sword, making it suitable for both partner exercises and kata techniques. It also features realistic details such as the Bo-Hi groove, the decorative Hamon tempering line, and an imitation of the traditional Tsukamaki handle wrapping, which enhance its aesthetic value.
The equipment includes a removable Maru-Gata (round) guard (Tsuba), which can be easily attached or removed according to personal preference or specific discipline.
Böker Magnum Kiai – a faithful and durable training katana for anyone who wants to perfect their skills in the spirit of Japanese traditions.

Böker - the history of the factory dates back to the 17th century, the original forge was then located in Remscheid. In 1829-30, production was extended to sabres and swords. At that time, the factory employed over 100 blacksmiths and sharpeners. In the second half of the 19th century, part of the family moved to the USA and Canada, where they established further production facilities. The last of the Bocker siblings, Heinrich, moved to Solingen where most of today's production comes from. Boker manufactures knives according to its own designs and those of well-known knifemakers.
The company now manufactures its products in Germany, the USA and Argentina and uses the marketing brand MAGNUM. Böker develops new types and designs itself and employs several designers. The knives are manufactured on CNC (computer controlled machine tools) with the highest quality.
