Swiss multifunctional army knife.
The development of the new army knife began in February 2008, when Victorinox was invited to participate in a tender process. A total of 7 suppliers from different countries competed for the contract. The supplied knife models were tested by people in the army and then also subjected to tests in the laboratory to verify the technical suitability of the products.
Careful consideration was given to the relationship between price and performance, and the winning knife was awarded a contract for the supply of 75,000 units for a total volume of CHF 1.38 million. The new army knives will be delivered during the first basic course in 2009. Like its predecessor, this knife will have embossing on the main blade. The first shipment of 10,000 will be delivered to the Army in December 2008 with the "08" stamping.

The company's roots go back to the village of Ibach in the canton of Schwyz, where Karl Elsener opened his own knife workshop in 1884. A few years later, the original Swiss Army knife was created here, which became a symbol of smart design and reliability.
