Product detailed description
HAMONO-TSUBAKI 100 ml oil is a specialized blade maintenance product, with an emphasis on carbon steel, which is more susceptible to corrosion than stainless alloys. Made in Japan, this camellia oil is obtained by pressing camellia seeds and is one of the purest natural lubricants suitable for food contact. Due to its healthfulness and edible quality, it does not require removal before using a knife in food preparation.
The oil forms a thin, even film on the blade that effectively insulates the metal from air moisture and oxygen, preventing oxidation and rust. Its low viscosity allows it to spread easily and penetrate into the microscopic irregularities of the metal surface, where it prevents the build-up of dirt and promotes smooth cutting properties.
Known for its mastery of traditional Japanese knife making, Kanetsune recommends this oil as an integral part of the care of knives made from high carbon steels such as Shirogami and Aogami. Regular application increases the life of the blade, preserves its aesthetic appearance and promotes easier sharpening.
The bottle of oil is equipped with a precision dropper that allows a small amount of product to be dispensed directly onto the blade without wastage. When stored properly, out of direct sunlight and at temperatures between 5 and 25°C, the oil retains its properties for many years.
In addition to its use on knives, it is also used to protect other metal tools, such as traditional Japanese saws, chisels or razor blades. Its subtle, natural fragrance does not interfere with the perception of food, making it the ideal choice for anyone who takes perfect care of their kitchen or craft tools.

Amazing knives with a history spanning more than eight hundred years originate from a place where craftsmanship has been refined through countless generations. Seki, widely known as the City of Blades, concentrates an exceptional number of Japanese swordsmiths and knifemakers. Tradition remains alive, evolving naturally while preserving the core principles of classical Japanese sword making. Each knife reflects manual skill, deep knowledge of steel, and respect for materials, clearly noticeable from the first cut.
VG-10 steel has earned its reputation through a balanced composition that supports long-lasting sharpness, structural stability, and an extremely fine edge. The blade responds precisely to careful grinding, delivering aggressive yet controlled cutting performance. The result offers remarkable sharpness combined with reliability, suitable for demanding kitchen tasks as well as intensive everyday use.
Production in Seki blends historic forging methods with modern control of heat treatment and steel structure. Every step focuses on performance, balance, and durability rather than superficial perfection. Japanese knives from this region have gained global recognition for their elegance, extreme sharpness, and technical sophistication, all grounded in authentic craftsmanship. Made in Japan here signals origin, heritage, and a serious commitment to quality.
