Product detailed description
Filipino culture, and especially martial arts culture, has a deep and rich history, one of the classic Filipino tools is ginunting.
Ginunting is a powerful weapon, probably derived from the binangon (which was used as an agricultural tool).
Adam Boyce is a native Idahoan and a friend of TOPS. In 2018, Adam reached out to TOPS because he had the opportunity to be a contestant on the spin-off show Forged in Fire.
He ended up being an alternate and was unable to participate in the competition, but an X16 Ginunting prototype was made for him to use on the show if he was selected.
Years later, while going through boxes of old models and prototypes at TOPS, they came across one of the Ginunting's that had been made and decided it was probably time to make it a real TOPS model.
This beast weighs just over 2 kg, so it has the weight of a small sword and is very capable.
Remember, the knives that Ginunting was based on were farming tools after all.
TOPS is thrilled to have made this knife with Adam. He is now a full-time agency instructor, former sniper/assault rifleman, and gives knife seminars all over the country. His experience and TOPS' commitment to quality tools make the X16 Ginunting Knife a great knife to have.

In late 1998, the TOPS Knives brand was founded with the goal of creating some of the highest quality knives on the market. These knives are tools that are designed and built using the extensive knowledge and real life experience of many users in the military, armed forces, outdoor professions and martial arts. Specifically, designers with backgrounds ranging from Navy Seals to Airborne Rangers, from martial arts instructors to survival experts, and from SWAT team members to Native weapons experts were collaborated with. TOPS has a designer from almost every background that uses hard-core knives.
All TOPS knives are handcrafted in a sweatshop in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, USA.
