Product detailed description

Every year on 27 May, a unique piece of history is created - the new limited edition M500 ANTHROPOID 1942 knife, which is not limited to memory, but at the same time carries precise craftsmanship, the latest material technologies and attention to technical and cultural detail. This year's edition focuses on one of the lesser-mentioned, yet key elements of the attack itself - the British No. 73 Mk1 anti-tank grenade. It earned the nickname "thermos" because of its cylindrical shape, and indeed - its original design resembled a tin can, weighing approximately 1.1 kilograms and measuring over 250 millimetres in length.

For the needs of Operation ANTHROPOID, the standard model was radically modified. The initiator of its deployment was Jan Kubiš, who directed the grenade - in this shortened version - at Reinhard Heydrich's car. On impact with the bodywork, the projectile bounced off and exploded in close proximity to the rear wheel. The resulting pressure wave and shrapnel caused injuries that led to the death of the Protector, making the inconspicuous cylinder an instrument of fundamental change in occupied Czechoslovakia.

The design of this year's M500 ANTHROPOID 1942 is based on the original design philosophy of the famous Fairbairn-Sykes dagger, a weapon of the British Special Forces, whose lines are here translated into a robust fulltang construction. The steel of the blade bears a modern coating resistant to wear and corrosion. A solid guard separates the blade from the handle with distinctive ergonomic milling, created by 3D machining from G10 composite material. This material is characterized by high tensile and compressive strength and excellent resistance to chemicals and extreme temperatures. The knurled texture with a distinctive red colour not only refers to the British symbolism, but also increases the gloves' secure grip even in the rain.

The back of the handle carries a hardened steel striking tip, suitable for emergency glass breaking or as an additional means of self-defence. Each knife is housed in a precision-molded self-locking Kydex thermoplastic sheath, compatible with the MOLLE platform. This system allows the knife to be firmly and securely attached to tactical gear.

This year's edition is complemented by a newly designed package with a historically themed card that details the story of the attack element. The total number of pieces produced does not exceed one hundred - each knife is hand numbered and represents not only a tool, but also an authentic fragment of the story that shaped history.
