The Ant is the most compact of the Extrema Ratio folding knives. Despite its small size, this model has an extremely robust, durable and reliable construction. The handle consists of two different elements, a handle made of anodized, anti-corroded aluminium and a hardened steel frame that acts as a blade lock (Frame Lock System).
There is a hole on the sheath for inserting a lanyard; on the right side of the handle is a steel clip that allows the knife to be concealed in a pocket.
The Ant knife is available in four versions with two different types of steel, both supplied by the Austrian company Böhler, with whom Extrema Ratio has worked for more than 20 years and uses its time-tested materials in the production of its knives.
The Ant Black and Ant Black Stone Washed are made from Böhler N690 steel, hardened to 58 HRC for a better balance between edge retention and strength; this is the type of steel Extrema Ratio uses for most of its knives.
The Rescue Red Stone Washed M390 and Black Stone Washed M390 are made from Böhler M390 steel heat treated to 61 HRC, which, thanks to a metallurgical powder manufacturing process, guarantees cutting efficiency, resistance to wear and oxidation over time.
The Ant Rescue has a red handle, unlike the other 3 versions, which allows the operator to find the knife more easily in case of a fall. This version has been equipped with specific serrations that allow it to cut ropes and even extremely strong aramid materials.
This model was also equipped with a tapered shank that serves as an emergency screwdriver. Thanks to these peculiarities, the Ant Rescue knife was selected by the ‘School of Alpine Units of the Italian Army’ for its equipment.
