Detailed information

Product detailed description

The Böker Damascus Annual is designed for lovers of lightweight pocket knives with a slip-on blade, combining the practical design of the Böker Boxer EDC with exceptional materials. The design by French knifemaker Raphaël Durand, like many classic French pocket knives, harks back to the traditional Navajo knife from the Mediterranean region. The stainless steel Clippoint blade, hand-forged from damascus by Chad Nichols, consists of 180 layers.
The nicely shaped handles are made from 5500-year-old swamp oak that is hand three-dimensionally ground. The stabilised wood gets a matt, almost velvety finish when sanded gently. Swamp oak wood is not a separate species of tree, but rather oak trunks that have lain for centuries in swamps, marshes or on river banks. Over a long period of time, the tannic acid of the oak wood combines with the iron salts contained in the water, making the wood very hard and giving it a dark colour.
The decorative copper rivets form a colourful contrast to the dark scales of the handle, which is further accentuated by the inserts, also made of copper.
The practical lanyard loop is further reinforced with a copper sleeve.
Handmade in the Böker manufactory in Solingen in a strictly limited number of 999 pieces for the whole world.
With certificate of authenticity and individual serial number.

Böker - the history of the factory dates back to the 17th century, the original forge was then located in Remscheid. In 1829-30, production was extended to sabres and swords. At that time, the factory employed over 100 blacksmiths and sharpeners. In the second half of the 19th century, part of the family moved to the USA and Canada, where they established further production facilities. The last of the Bocker siblings, Heinrich, moved to Solingen where most of today's production comes from. Boker manufactures knives according to its own designs and those of well-known knifemakers.
The company now manufactures its products in Germany, the USA and Argentina and uses the marketing brand MAGNUM. Böker develops new types and designs itself and employs several designers. The knives are manufactured on CNC (computer controlled machine tools) with the highest quality.
