Detailed information

Product detailed description

Mikhail Kalashnikov personally visited Böker Manufaktur in Solingen in 2002 and officially introduced the Böker Kalashnikov knife line to the public. Böker Kalashnikov's Damascus bayonet features a unique Damascus blade, which is made from the steel of the 6Ch3 and 6Ch4 bayonets according to the GRAU index of the former Soviet army and is decorated with General Kalashnikov's signature. Chad Nichols' stainless steel damascus consists of 80 layers and is hand forged to the Virus pattern. It has an unusually intricate pattern that is the result of a very controlled forging process. The pandur-tipped blade, taken from bayonets, opens with a thumb stud and secures with a sturdy linerlock.
The handle is CNC machined from a block of 6061-T6 aluminum and then hard anodized black. The stabilized inserts are made of hornbeam wood, which resembles the wood of the stock of the famous assault rifle, and together form the shape of the characteristic forearm vents. The colour of the Russian amber shellac of the original stocks has been precisely matched. They are also hand-milled from solid wood and hand-inserted. All screws and clip (tip-up/r) are also black anodized. Handmade in the Böker knife manufactory in Solingen. With certificate of authenticity and individual serial number.

The roots of Böker go back to the 17th century, when the family forge operated in Remscheid and focused on steel processing and edge tools. Over time, practical experience shaped a technical mindset that balanced durability, cutting performance, and reliability. The expansion into sabres and rapiers around 1829–1830 marked a decisive technological step, demanding precise heat treatment and consistent blade geometry. With more than a hundred skilled craftsmen employed, the company gained the capacity to refine production without losing its artisanal foundation.

During the second half of the 19th century, parts of the family moved to North America, establishing facilities in the USA and Canada. This international presence allowed experimentation with new designs and materials. Today, major production remains in Solingen, supported by manufacturing in the USA and Argentina, while modern CNC machining ensures tight tolerances and repeatable results. Böker develops knives in-house and in collaboration with well-known makers, delivering tools that combine engineering precision with practical usability, including the widely distributed MAGNUM line aimed at robust everyday performance.
