Product detailed description
The latest addition to the lionSTEEL fixed blade knife series for 2024 is the compact Ago model, designed for everyday carry (EDC). The slim, elegantly tapered silhouette looks light, yet provides high strength when working. The knife comes with a precision-crafted leather sheath that allows for discreet carrying in your pocket while protecting the edge and surface of the blade.
The M390 powder steel blade with a fine satin finish excels in exceptional resistance to wear and corrosion. The hardness of the material, combined with precise grinding, ensures long-term stable sharpness and a smooth cut. The handle, made using SOLID® technology from a single piece of material, provides exceptional rigidity and aesthetic purity. The titanium nut at the end of the handle serves not only as a structural element, but also as a functional guard that contributes to a secure grip during both delicate and forceful work.
The narrow shape of the handle allows for variable grip positions – from precise cuts to a universal grip for outdoor use. Each handle variant reflects the Italian sense of detail and material culture. Gianluigi "Wilson" Simonella, an experienced custom knife maker, master metalworker, and founding member of the Italian Cutlers' Corporation (CIC), contributed to the design. The combination of his craftsmanship philosophy and technological innovation creates a tool that combines functionality, aesthetics, and durability in a harmonious whole.

LionSteel was founded in 1969 in Maniago, where knife making is as traditional as in Solingen, Germany. It was founded by Mr. Gino Pauletta, and was mainly focused on contract manufacturing of knives from other manufacturers. A few years later, the company produced the first knives of its own design, thus creating the LionSTEEL brand. The name of the factory is given by the stone statue of a lion standing in front of the building and the material from which the knives are made.
At the end of the 1990s, the founder's three sons, John Daniel and Maximus, join the work. At that time, the company made a great leap in quality with the introduction of digital machine control.
At this time the company has fifteen employees and sells its products not only in Europe but also in the USA. It focuses on the production of knives of the highest quality. The company's philosophy is to supply knives made exclusively in Italy. None of the knives or their components are made in Asia.
